Welcome!
I’m Amy, a 20-something college student living in Chicago. As part of my final for my class Media, Politics, & Intervention, I was asked to create a project that addressed a social, political, or human rights issue. I chose food, not only because it is such an integral facet of my life, but also because it is grandly complex. Food possesses the power to change countries, to alter lives, to reevaluate the very composition of a place and its people. And art, like food, is life-changing. Being a student at Columbia College Chicago has taught me that art is a powerful avenue of thought and expression, and for that reason, I thought that there was no better way to bring food awareness to the masses than through various forms of art. I will be using this Tumblr to share my own food stories with you, but I also encourage you (yes, YOU) to submit anything and everything food related. Drawings, paintings, stories, songs - any sort of artistic expression. And when you think food, don’t think that you have to limit yourself to the basics. Use food to address race, gender, sex, politics - anything that speaks to YOU. Hopefully, through collaboration, we can create a powerful movement of change.
